Research interests

As Program Coordinator Miranda is responsible for two programs within NHTV Academy for Tourism - Tour Manager is a specialization of 2 years which educates students to become experts in the field of Tourist Experiences, with a special focus on the development of Guided Tours. Within the program I-Tours Design Lab, a fourth year specialization at our university, students and (non) profit organizations co-create Memorable Tourist Experiences.

As a PhD student she's doing research on future tourism development in Finnish Lapland, with a special focus on the meaning of sustainable and experiential tourism within the follow-up of our current Experience Economy, the economy of "Meaningful Experiences".Memorable Tourist Experiences, Experiential Tourism & Guiding and Sustainability are topics she lectures within NHTV Academy for Tourism.

For TravelNext she writes blogs on topics which are related to the use of Social Media in the development and promotion of products in Tourism & Recreation. How to connect an offline world of sights and destinations to an online world?
